Known Issue #1
Symptoms: Apple devices, particularly MacBooks and iPads, perform inconsistently with classroom AV equipment at the University of Windsor, often refusing to send video to the projector
Cause: There is a known issue with Apple devices and the Crestron AV equipment used in UWindsor classrooms as macOS outputs HDMI to HDCP at all times. If the Crestron system or any device in the chain isn’t HDCP-compliant, the MacBook may refuse to send video.
Resolution: For teaching purposes, workarounds include:
- use AirMedia with the Apple device
- use the classroom computer
